Updates on Fablehaven, the tour, and much more

Monday, March 23, 2009

Here is a bunch of info all in one place about the release of Fablehaven Book 4. If you’re not interested, just disregard/delete.

FABLEHAVEN Book 4: SECRETS OF THE DRAGON SANCTUARY comes out tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24. At the same time, Book 3: GRIP OF THE SHADOW PLAGUE is now available in paperback. Amazon and bn.com both have good prices listed online, and the books can also be found in most major bookstores nationwide.

If you’re thinking about getting the books, or giving them as presents, now is a great time. For one, with the new release, the books are more in stock at stores than usual. Also, because of the new release, there are better discounts available. And also, if you care about helping the cause, sales on any of the Fablehaven books over these next couple of weeks will help toward the series hitting bestseller lists.

For these same reasons, this is a great time to share the series with friends or family who might be interested. Something like the following paragraph might get the job done (adjust however you want, and please add your personal opinion of the books):

Have you tried the Fablehaven books? Fablehaven is a really fun fantasy series. The books work well for kids, teens, and adults. They work well read alone, or aloud as a group or family. The Fablehaven series is about secret wildlife parks for magical creatures hidden in our world. There will be five books in the series. Book four just came out in hardcover, and book 3 just released in paperback. Give them a try! You won’t be disappointed! Fablehaven.com has more info.

Anyhow, if you’ve already started the series, I think the books get better as they go, and the chances are decent that book 4 might be your favorite so far.

Here is the info on my touring and events:

Hmm, that's a bit strange... this was posted yesterday and I didn't get it until 1:30 p.m. today? Oh well, anyway I am coming to the release party and I am SO EXCITED!!!!! I hope that there will be enough seats! I'm buying the fourth book, so I hope that will help with getting the series on the bestseller list. Good luck with everything!

P.S. Tell Brandon Dorman that he is as good as an illustrator as you are a writer (and believe me, that is a BIG compliment)!

I can't wait to get my hands on the fourth book (wish I could make it to one of the places you are visiting). The series is by far one of my all time favorites and I am just astounded by how quick you are at writing excellent books. I have featured you on my blog: http://seedsoflove-ben.blogspot.com/2009/03/featured-author-brandon-mull.html

    Hi Brandon,

You probably won't remember me, but I met you at the Enfield B&N book signing (short girl, brunette with long hair in her 20s, NY Giants blue hoodie, had you address a book to a kid named Matt for his birthday..) but, I just wanted to drop you a quick line - You said you hoped I would enjoy the books; I couldn't read them fast enough! Absolutely wonderful series and my friends were definitely right to say that they thought you could easily be the next J.K.Rowling.. I can't wait for the final book to come out! Congrats again on your success and I'll definitely be recommending this series to anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of reading it yet!

You mentioned you have a movie deal. Avi Arad is a great name to have associated with your project. I desperately hope your film doesn't follow the path of the soul destroyers who ruined "Dune," "Eragon," "The Seeker," "The Golden Compass," and "Inkheart." Filmmakers can be a combination of stupid and arrogant. Those three projects named above are textbook examples of how filmmakers can kill the life of a story by

    1) changing key plot elements for inexplicable reasons.
    2) blatantly shortcutting plot and character development.
    3) keeping the author too distant from the script.
    4) pinching the film budget.
    5) overly restraining the film's length (even the first Harry Potter was allowed to run 152 mins, compared with 104 mins for Eragon).

I pray for you and your creative product. Hollywood can do awful things to a good idea.

As an aspiring writer I read a LOT of books in this genre and I have to tell you that your Fablehaven series is far and above the best I have read in a LONG time. I am recommending them to all of my friends with kids. My one complaint is that I have not been able to buy Book 4. It is not available in any of the bookstores in Murfreesboro, TN. The BAM clerk said it would have to be special ordered! Even she thought that was strange for a series book. Barnes & Noble said that they had some on order but didn't know when they would arrive. Please alert your publisher!! Tennessee needs Book 4 too!
    Best Wishes on more success,

I just discovered Fablehaven at my 9 year old son`s school book fair last month. Both my son and I were instantly entranced and devoured the first two books quickly. We live in Canada, and had a hard time finding book 3 in stores (finally found one of only two copies in the city!). Book 4 apparently isn`t going to be released here for some time, but I could not wait; I special ordered it in from the States. I love these books: they are intelligent, imaginative, and completely enthralling. I am telling everyone about Fablehaven!! Thanks so much for writing stories that can be equally enjoyed by all ages!

Hey, I just started reading the fablehaven series and I read the first four within a month. This is one series that I would like to have all of them, but sadly I only own the fourth one :(. I can't wait for the next book I like this series better then the harry potter series and I wish I knew you were coming to Washington I would of tried to come that would of been really cool. I'm thinking about starting writing a book but I can't seem to come up with a good story line. Keep at the writing Mr. Brandon you're awesome

Could you please update your book signings now that we are in May??? I have four kids and they own all of your books and have been able to get them all signed by you. They are very eager to get this new one signed.

I am also a reading specialist at Westbrook Elementary in West Jordan. I promised the kids in my reading groups if they were able to reach their reading goals by the end of the school year, I would give them a signed copy of one of your books. They are very eager to reach their goals, and I am eager to keep my promise to them!! Thanks for motivating them to read.

We are huge fans of you up in the Northern part of this great state. How can we get more info on possibly scheduling you as a guest speaker at out school during the 2009-2010 school year? Any info would be helpful as we'd be thrilled to have you.

Now we just need to get you down here to St. George (or at least again, if you have before). My son has been writing a book for a couple of years (he's 13 now) and loves Fablehaven (which I finally pushed him to read). Keep us in mind as you put your tours together!
